I'm having a lot of problems getting PCMCIA to work on my HP laptop with a Xircom RBEM56G-100 card.

1) No indication when I plug or unplug the card.
2) Lots of error messages when I boot with the card in the slot. Such as pcilib cannot open /proc/bus/pci/02/00.1 and modprobe /dev/modem not found.
3) when the PCMCIA driver tries to start the card I get the error eth1 already started and when I shut down the error eth1 not started ?? (wtf?)
4) I can boot normaly with no error messages (just the SCSI ones but I havent got around to removing it from the kernel) insert the card and do ifconfig eth1 dchpcd eth1 and then it starts working.

as I'm rather new to Linux I would welcome any help you could offer.

I've included the output of some logfiles in case it helps. Also despite the missing module errors the internal 3c59x card and the Maestro3 card both work
