Hi there, I've been running KDE 4.6.3 nicely for a while, and then decided to upgrade to 4.6.5. I thus fired an emerge --update -deep --newuse world over the weekend and when I came back, I found that the emerging stopped at 175 out of 276. The new use flags were required by Amrock. This is the emerge info:

Code:
sargon ~ # emerge --info =media-gfx/exiv2-0.21.1-r1

Try --syncing and emerging again. If it still fails post the whole error log so we can see which part fails.

Hi there, I did as said, I synced and then emerge --update --deep --newuse world. The results is now that the system stops at another application, sci-visualization/gnuplot-4.4.3-r1.

So I ran a revdep-rebuild, and found that a lot of packages have a broken libstdc++.so.6. I omit posting the whole error log as I think that the trouble is with the libstdc++.so.6.

These are the last lines of the revdep-rebuild:

Code:
[ebuild   R    ] kde-base/ktimetracker-4.4.11.1
[blocks B      ] kde-base/kvtml-data:4 ("kde-base/kvtml-data:4" is blocking kde-base/libkdeedu-4.6.5)

it seems that you've not keyworded kde-base/kdeedu-meta-4.6.5, keyword it and try again.

Hi DaggyStyle, I did not understand your advice. What does it mean keywording kde-base/kdeedu-meta-4.6.5? How do I make that?

Maybe you mean it is a masked package?

Thanks

It won't fix that problem, but should allow you to run revdep-rebuild which should be able to fix it.

Nope, unmerge of kde-base/kvtml-data has not allowed me to run revdep-rebuild and fix it. This is the result of revdep-result after unmerging:

which: no g++ in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/opt/bin:/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.4.5)

I re-emerged gcc, but to no avail, I still get the same errors both from revdep-rebuild (the icu one) and from emerge --update --deep --newuse world.

BTW is there a method to copy the whole content of a log file into the buffer and then paste it into the forum?

thanks

emerge wgetpaste.

as for the g++ issue, how can you emerge gcc without g++?

what is the output of eix gcc? (emerge eix if you don't have it).

As far as emerging gcc, apparently it did not return any error.

I think that linking /usr/bin/g++ to /usr/bin/g++-4.4.5 will solve this but I'm afraid that won't solve the bigger problem.
