I currently have CUPS installed, but would like to install LPRng alongside it because I am making an attempt to get it to work with my school's (Cornell University's) "Netprint" service which lets student print over the network to various printers. I found a guide to setting this up on Linux, but LPRng is required, which seems to conflict with CUPS. The author of the page built an rpm that installs in a different directory. Is there a way to set this up via portage? I'd rather avoid just dropping files around my system. The page is https://confluence.cornell.edu/display/NETADMINWIKI/Netprint+Linux for anyone who is curious.
