|

Hello all, I hope this is the correct forum for such a question.
I followed the instructions of the
Gentoo Localization Guide and got it almost working. The german umlauts and the euro symbol display well with BASH on the console; Under X the umlauts work but the euro symbol wont.
Using TCSH however, none work, neither under X nor on the console.
What I did:
Setting CONSOLEFONT in /etc/rc.conf to lat0-16
Setting LANG to de_DE@euro in /etc/profile, /etc/csh.env and in the local user's .tcshrc
Setting XkbLayout to "de@euro" or just "de" (seems to make no difference) in /etc/X11/XF86Config
Everything else is set just as it is described in the Guide.
So how come the umlauts and euro will work with TCSH but not with TCSH? I know they should (working fine on my FreeBSD machine, both in X and on the console) but something I seem to be missing...
Can anyone help? Any input is appreciated!
Thanks in advance! _________________ Instead of asking why a piece of software is using 1970s technology,
