Does re-emerging gnome-panel fix the problem? _________________ Whatever you do, do it properly! |

You will need to go into your original users home folder, and set to show hidden files.
You are looking for a folder called .config
Delete that folder, log out and log back in again.
However, YOU WILL LOSE ALL PERSONAL SETTINGS, such as desktop background, icons etc etc
It just means you will have to go about setting up your own customisations again. _________________ Whatever you do, do it properly! |

Okay, if my memory serves me correctly, delete the .gnome folder as well, and if that does not fix it, then delete the .gconf folder.
A similar thing has happened to me, and I had to delete a few . folders from my home folder.
Don't worry, you will still have a working system, you will just lose your personal settings, which means you have to set your personal stuff all over again. Better than a re-install or new user I suppose. _________________ Whatever you do, do it properly! |

It looks like this has been resolved however there is an easier way!
Code: |
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel
|
It will reset your panel settings to the default (the way they were the 1st time you emerged gnome) without making you lose chrome bookmarks and whatever else you lost. |
