|
|
I'm getting a new LCD monitor in a few days and need a video card with a DVI port. I've been finding that 3D games in ePSXe are unplayable, so I would like to buy with performance in mind as well. I'd prefer to pay around $80. If it helps, currently I have a Radeon VE 32mb, using the xfree-drm drivers. Can anyone provide suggestions for a good card and the best driver to use with it?
I would rather not use closed-source drivers if the performance loss for not doing so isn't too obscene. This also means I would rather buy ATI... but I've heard nVidia cards perform significantly better in Linux. |

The ti4200 is probably your best bet for a cheap card with dvi and decent gaming performance, will be about $100usd although I've seen them for less. Make sure it has a dvi connector on it though, some of the newer low cost ones come without.
To state the obvious, make sure your lcd has a dvi connector, most don't.
Personally I can't stand the motion blur you get playing games with lcd's even with the latest 16ms screens. |
