Greetings
I am trying to solve a KMS problem on my Inspiron 8600 - with no luck and I'm out of ideas. Searching the forum didn't provide any solution either.
When I'm using an external monitor with my dock I'm getting a strange color setup. Looks like BRG instead of RGB, i.e. red appears blue, green appears red and blue appears green...
I can't verify correct behavior without external monitor since the backlight of my laptop's display died a few days ago.
Disabling KMS shows the correct colors, however DRI is not working in that configuration.
Code: | (EE) RADEON(0): [agp] AGP failed to initialize. Disabling the DRI. |
Additionally I get unpredictable freezes similar to this description: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-817393.html
freeze with or without artifacts
Kernel 2.6.39-gentoo-r3 and 3.0.4-gentoo provide same results.

Today I figured I could boot gentoo via the live DVD and to my surprise it showed the same behaviour. However it showed an error message like this:
Code: |
drm:drm_edid_block_valid *ERROR* Raw EDID:
drm:drm_edid_block_valid *ERROR* EDID checksum is invalid, remainder is 21
-repeats 3 times-
radeon 000:01:00.0: LVDS-1:EDID block 0 invalid.
|
*edit:
Is there a way to disable auto detection and provide a "custom" EDID ? I have dumps.
thanks. |
