Ok I put out this question before running in to trouble, as it makes thing sooo much easier
I have openvz-2.6.32.11.1 running on my server and although everything have been fine so far with udev-164, despite its complaint:
Quote: | * Messages for package sys-fs/udev-164-r2:
* CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED: should not be set. But it is.
* CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2: should not be set. But it is.
* Please check to make sure these options are set correctly.
* Failure to do so may cause unexpected problems.

because
Quote: | CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED=y
CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2=y
CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_DYN=y
|
is hard coded in the .config that comes with openvz-sources, so they cannot even be changed via '#make menuconfig', which of course makes you vary to change them manually - unless you are looking for trouble of course.
I have tried to get some answers to this oven at the openvz wiki forum, but although almost 5000 views not a single word from anyone. I did this some 3 months ago when upgrading to udev-164 and now my system wants to install udev-171 instead, which once again brings up the question - what is the proper way to deal with this? Just install udev despite warnings and openvz will be happy with it anyhow or is it advisable to to manually change those SYSFS kernel config values and recompile, and then install udev-171 or what?
Assume I'm not the only one confused (and worried) about this and would feel more comfortable with a clear answer about this. _________________ /Joakim
