KDE 4.6.3 compositing causing logouts

I just did a deep world update which included a version change from KDE 4.4.5 (I think) to KDE 4.6.3 (I know).

Its kind of weird too, it only forces a logout when you open a menu, like the Kmenu or the desktop menu.
There don't appear to be any errors, it just takes you to the login screen.

I don't even know where to begin to trouble shoot this issue.
Is there a composting error log?
I know it is the compositing because as soon as I turn it off, with Alt+Shift+F12, it works fine.

Any ideas?

OK, so I am dusting off this old thread that nobody but me seems to care about...

I have recently updated to KDE 4.6.5, and though it might not be a major release, maybe now there is something that can be done about the problem I have been having.

So, any takers?
