My ISP is a dhcp/cable setup, no hostnames are required, just standard DHCP. I have two tulip-based ethernet cards, verified that the modules are loaded properly. Bringing up eth0 or eth1 works fine with static, but starting dhcp on eth1 (my internet interface, eth0 is my LAN) results in the interface being dropped with no warning. Thus, I can't connect to my ISP with it. I'm currently using Redhat, and DHCP works fine with it, but I really want to get Gentoo installed. Any ideas? |

I had the same problem. So I boot with the red hat and take the ip address, put manually after a boot with the liveCD (as you did) and continue setup until I finished the first part (compile the kernel, grub and etc). After that the dhcp start to function properly... [edit](after booting)[/edit]
I dont know if this has changed... have you downloaded the latest liveCD?
