During boot, after all the init script are done, the screen clears before displaying login prompt. It also clears after logout.
It wan't this way before, so I could see the messages left by init scripts.

I checked rc.conf, and there isn't any option related to the screen being cleared. How can I disable it?

it's a setting in /etc/inittab
the clearing of the console is (usually) done by the command

clear
in .bash_logout. i think it's best to keep that for security reasons.
