|
|
Hi there,
I just finished an installation of gentoo from GRP cds from 09/11/03 on my dell inspiron 4100. I'm running gentoo-sources 2.4.20-gentoo-r7. I'm still in the process of getting everything to run again. The notebook contains a geforce2go, 32mb of memory.
Using yenta-socket for the pcmcia and the hotplug I'd like to use a firewire pcmcia card (Noname, or "mentor", P/N: PCM1394) to connect an external fw-harddisk (which already worked in gentoo on this computer). My problem now is, that on insertion, on the console I get a garbled screen, in X I get a locked screen. The computer isn't locked though, I can still use it via network. From /var/log/messages I can see, that it seems to have to do with nvidia/framebuffer. Does anyone know what I can do to prevent this?
I'll post the excerpt from messages, excerpts from my kernel config and the list of currently loaded modules.
It would be cool if anyone had an idea about what I should do here... is there a way to prevent framebuffers to be used without rebuilding the kernel? Is this something card-specific? Unfortunately I don't have other pcmcia cards to try out (except from the minipci wlan card, which is builtin and on the pcmcia as well).
Greetings,
Holger
