Hi all,

I've got a problem with my sound configuration, and it's driving me nuts. Basically, whenever I try playing a sound file in a GUI audio player, I have no sound regardless of what volume I have set on Volti, alsamixer, or that program's own audio controls. But when I load up that same audio file in mplayer via the command line, my sound works fine, and playing audio in Firefox (YouTube, for example) works as well. The programs I've tried and had no sound in are Decibel-Audio-Player, Audacious, VLC, Exaile, and Totem.

I know that a while back, my sound was working correctly, so perhaps an update somewhere along the line screwed my configuration. However, I can't see anything out of the ordinary with sound card drivers, kernel modules, use flags, or anything else I can think of. So, does anyone smarter than me have any other suggestions of things to check? Thanks in advance!

I've slapped up a bunch of info from my system below that may be relevant. I don't know if it'll help, but hey, it can't hurt.

If you are using mplayer frontends like smplayer, kmplayer or whatever, try to check mplayers logfiles afterwards. Smplayer for instance supports this.
