I just downloaded, and unpacked nwn. I followed what the site said, got the client and resources then got the patch and put that in there too.
I ran it, entered my cd key and looked at some control options and went to new game.
It closed immediately, no error in my terminal or anything, the process just stopped.
Any clues as to how I can fix this or even why?
EDIT:
I have a g4 ti4200 with the latets nvidia kernel and glx, updategl on nvidia ran etc. It works fine with ut2k3 and other games at much high gfx settings. |

You don't indicate that you are getting this error, but maybe this is worth looking into anyway.
Here is a post from a while ago that I made regarding a problem I was having with NWN.

I have had a similar problem with some user modules. At certain (repeatable) points (such as climbing the hill to the first catapult in the last Dreamcatcher module) the game just drops out. No error, no message, nothing. I just avoid those places now... |

If you installed it as root and are running as a normal user (as you should be doing) then you'll need to set some permissions on some specific folders so you can write to them. Of course, I foget what they are but I think there is a faq in the nwn forums. |

I am running x in 24 and the game does start...All the menus work except new game. I haven't tried going beyond the first multiplayer menu, or loading a game seeming how I can't create one.
I did install as root as it suggested, and I just changed the owner and all read write execution permissions of all of nwn recursively.
Went to new game and it just exited no console output. |

I'm not sure if you should do a recursive. I just chmoded like the save dir and whatever else the install directions said. It worked fine. I played the expansion too and it ran great.

I was getting this same error, so I just installed as a normal user to my home directory and all my problems went away. But I only have one partition for my system, so installing to my home directory wasn't a big deal. |

I did a chmod chown and chgrp on all of nwn but it still won't work. I'll just delete it, redownload the 1.3 gigs of stuff and hope it works. How stupid of me for deleting it before I tried to play |

I redownloaded everything and followed the exact same process, minus removing the files before trying it, and it worked I don't know what it was but thanks for the advice. |

I'm not sure to be honest, I'm running it with the max gfx settings on my ti4200 fine now
The game is seriously good, but i haven't really gotten far into it yet. It's really cheap now at most stores too.
Native linux + cheap = instant buy |

Redeeman - it should be fine. It's not terribly graphics-intensive, but it does look nice. |

but why isn't there an ebuild for 1.31 yet?
I made it myself a while ago to install it, but everytime I sync portage it gets removed and emerge wants to downgrade to 1.30 again
Anyway, 1.30 wouldn't run for me, 1.31 runs fine. _________________ Pentium 4 Prescott 3,2 GHz
