Hi!
I recently acquired an old DEC AlphaServer 1000A 4/266 to play around with. So far I've succesfully installed Gentoo on it but nowI've got a weird problem...
I'm trying to upgrade GCC but emerging glibc seems to loop forever. This is the output:
Code: | mv -f /var/tmp/portage/glibc-2.3.6-r2/work/build-default-alpha-unknown-linux-gnu -linuxthreads/tls.makeT /var/tmp/portage/glibc-2.3.6-r2/work/build-default-alpha -unknown-linux-gnu-linuxthreads/tls.make

You sure the system clock is on-time? Sounds like the clock is a few years behind. _________________ Stuart Longland (a.k.a Redhatter, VK4MSL)

Oh, that's it! How on earth did I miss that... It was actually exactly 20 years in the future
I just had to set the clock, re-emerge linux-headers and then emerge glibc.
Well, thanks a lot!

Had the same issue on an x86 machine and the same fix worked for me (my clock was a year old). I'm always newly amazed at the level of gentoo support you can find online. Thanks guys. |
