|
I've used smplayer for many years, but only recently- since I started using banshee- has a problem crept up that continues to annoy me yet I can't seem to solve on my own.
Enter the Gentoo forums
Banshee never stops. That is, only by closing it or getting to the end of a playlist, does it release its grip on alsa. This is the only point in time where I can open a file in smplayer and actually hear audio.
In ubuntu, banshee and mplayer can play nicely together. I know ubuntu natty uses pulseaudio, so I recently tried emerging mplayer with the pulseaudio USE flag set, but it didn't solve the problem. There may be more I need to do with pulse (or switch my entire audio infrastructure to it) but I'm not quite willing to do that at this point.
Can anyone recommend a configuration for smplayer so audio will work even if some other process is utilizing also?
If it's any help, I have intel HD audio.
