I just bought a shiny new Thinkpad X1 and I can't get the install-amd64-minimal-20111103.iso install working. It dies pretty early in the boot process with:
Code: | !! Media not found
>> No bootable medium foun. Waiting for devices...
>> Looking for the cdrom
>> Attempting to mount media:- /dev/sda1
>> Attempting to mount media:- /dev/sda2
!! Media not found
!! Could not find CD to boot; something else needed!
>> Determining root device...
!! Could not find the root block device in .
Please specify another value or: press Enter for the same, type "shell" for a shell, or "q" to skip...
root block device() ::

Now here's the thing. The *only* OS on this laptop at present is the pre-installed Windows7, but when I type "shell" and then "ls", I get the usual Code: | boot etc lib modules.cache proc sbin temp var
dev init lib64 newroot root sys usr | directories so it definitely found the DVD and installed the ramdisk, but now it can't find the DVD? I've tried just hitting enter at the prompt, as well as Code: | gentoo noapic nolapic | and the results have been the same.
Lastly, I guess I should mention that the only HD in here is an SSD. I'm not sure if that's relevant, but there you go.
Suggestions please

Use a system rescue cd as the install media instead. _________________ Defund the FCC. |

I didn't know such a thing existed, that's great! Thanks so much. |
