Hi all.

I've tried Adobe Flash 11.x to see how it compares with Gnash (CPU usage and fluidity) and I must admit I was not disappointed. CPU usage with Gnash and Flash is rather similar on my machine (Radeon Mobility HD 3670, RV635). There is an issue I haven't been able to solve with youtube though: Gnash doesn't seem to ever be able to run HD videos, i.e. those marked HD (720 and 1080).

Does anybody have an idea why?

Thanks in advance.

It should work in gnash from git. However CPU the load is so high that only fast CPUs are able to playback HD content. Even enabling VA-API helps only somewhat, if at all. Using HTML5 where available is probably the best solution for now.

Thanks chithanh. Fact is I enabled HTML5 testing on youtube but not all videos can be read in WebM format, there are a couple of ones I used to watch that are only available in h264 format. Most of all, youtube seems to require the Flash plugin to watch those videos (I tried disabling both gnash and flash in FF7.0.1). So I guess only the flash plugin from Adobe will help in this case. Unless I've missed something, which is always possible.
