Adudigy2 and kernel 2.6

I have an audigy2 soundcard in my gentoo box (running the 2.6-test5 kernel). I am aware that the audigy2 is partially supported through the emu10k1-cvs drivers, but I have also heard that with the 2.6 kernel it works out of the box.

I can't get it to work out of the box, and when I try to emerge the emu10k1-cvs files I get a make error.

I have looked through the big audigy2 topic but I didn't see anything that would help my situation.
