So I am here http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-ppc.xml?part=1&chap=6 at the "Entering the new Environment" part, everything has gone smoothly up until now. So I type in

Code:

chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash

now it says 'bash 4.1' where before it said 'live cd'. So now I type in

Code:

env-update

and it comes up with

Code:

portage: 'portage' user or group is missing

and

Code:

OSError: No such file or directory: '/etc/env.d'

Any help as to what to do would be much appreciated. Thanks.
