I'm trying to setup a CIDR address on a specific interface in conf.d/net but I get the following error even though the interface is up and working OK:

I don't know what "RTNETLINK answers: File exists" refers to.

Code:

# cat /etc/conf.d/net
config_eth0="10.215.147.110 netmask 255.255.0.0"
routes_eth0="default via 10.215.144.91"
config_eth1="192.168.250.110/24"

# /etc/init.d/net.eth1 start
 * Bringing up interface eth1
 *   192.168.250.110/24 ...
RTNETLINK answers: File exists                                            [ !! ]

SOLVED:
it was because I previously had manually set an IP addr with "ip addr add..." on that device and hadn't removed it.
Maybe /etc/init.d/net.eth* stop should check these things and take care of it?
anyway, special case. - solved.
