Installing GTA3 with Wine/WineX

Hi

I'm not trying to run GTA3 just yet. I've seen the thread about getting the CVS version of WineX with the Quartz DLLs. That'll be the next step

I've got wine emerged. I've ran the winesetuptk and I now have a fake_windows setup. I'm trying to run the setup.exe on the GTA3 CD with no success. It fails with iKernel error.. bla bla bla.

How can I install GTA3 in my wine fake_windows?

The Ikernel error stuff is from the InstallShield being dumb. I had the same prob at first. You need to make sure you have a file stdole32.tlb in your fakeC/windows/system directory.

Once thats there you should have no problems.

Grab it here if you need it(right click save as).

hate to tell you this, but that is propietary software. it is under the ownership of micro$oft. doing sh*t like that could get a company like gentoo under.
