Hi, I just installed Gentoo. I used the Gentoo Linux 1.4 Installation Instructions.
Everything works... but there is a few annoying quirks.
1- I have a problem with alsa. I added hotplug to the default init. Alsa starts first and loaded my soundcard module : emu10k1. But after that hotplug tries to modprobe the emu10k1 module again and I got a full page of error message. So I added emu10k1 to the blacklist of hotplug. No more double modprobe messages but I get this message now :
ALSA lib conf.c:1564: (snd_config_load1) _top_level_:10:8: Unexpected end of file /usr/sbin/alsactl : load_state:1108: snd_config_load_error: unknown error
This error cause my sound config to not be remembered (I have to unmute all channels each boot).
2- It is not the first time I used Gentoo. I used it when it was 1.2. But I did not use hotplug. I just added the modules to load in the /etc/module.autoload/kernel file. I tried this. I put my 2 ethernet cards and nvidia module. But if I do that KDM can't start and my eth1 don't work (net.eth1 failed). Does somebody know why?
Thanks
