Hi,

I followed all the directions at http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/E17 but I ended up with E16 installed not E17. What did I do wrong?

Code:

emerge -p enlightenment

shows
[ebuild R ] x11-wm/enlightenment-1.0.10

Is that the right version?

I really don't like the new gnome and have liked using enlightenment in the past. Thanks!

Mike

It looks like you did not understand the layman bit. 1.0.10 is the portage version, the guide is for a version in an overlay. Documentation for how to use an overlay is found here http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/overlays/userguide.xml. You need to set that up properly.

A BIG word of caution: Overlays are not supported. Overlays are not as safe as the portage tree. Overlays contain things that have a high probability of bugs. If you still want to use one, follow the steps in the link above. They can make your life hell or give you the software that you want. (I would also install a fall back GUI like fluxbox, just in case.)

Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box.

Thanks, looks like I forget the

Code:

 echo "source /var/lib/layman/make.conf" >> /etc/make.conf

which is pretty important.
