I know ALSA is able to detect them as I'm able to get VLC to use the headphones, but not every application supports the audio configuration (like VLC). Is there a way to get my USB headphones to work ?
Any advice & help will be greatly appreciated.

Now do I first remove alsa and then install pulseaudio ? Because the tutorials don't specify if I'm required to do so. Thanks |

No. ALSA is the sound driver you're going to be using, whereas pulseaudio is the sound server. This means that programs will connect to pulseaudio, and then pulseaudio will route their sound output to the correct ALSA device. Your original setup didn't have a sound server, which means that each program was in charge of routing to the correct ALSA device by itself (and some programs handle this poorly, which is why pulseaudio helps). |
