I'd like to move my ~/.claws-mail dir to a server on my home network so I can access it from more than one machine. Is this possible with claws-mail? If so, how do I make claws-mail use the .claws-mail dir on my server?

IMAP is the straight answer. Although you may get away with just mounting over NFS and using symlinks.

I don't use IMAP because I have a small hosted server and I need to conserve disk space. Otherwise, I would.

So I take it claws-mail is hard-coded to use ~/.claws-mail, with no options other than tomfoolery to use a different dir?

Code:

$ LANG=C claws-mail --help | grep -A 1 config-dir
  --config-dir           output configuration directory
  --alternate-config-dir [dir]
                         use specified configuration directory

Is there any reason why you don't just NFS mount /home from the home server?

I was looking for that. I thought it would have been in the man page. Thanks. :)

Good idea, but it won't work because I only want to share the claws-mail dir between machines - not my entire /home dir. Different settings in each /home on each machine. :wink:
