Hello,
I am trying to install Gentoo from an x86 basic iso image. During the bootstrap process I get an error compiling textinfo-4.5:
in the texinfo-4.5/doc directory there is an illegal instruction error:
make[2]: *** [texinfo.info] Illegal instruction
Am I likley to be doing something wrong here or does this sound like a bug?

| i had the same error some time ago because my motherboard doesn't activate sse on my athlon-xp. if you also use such an cpu try cat /proc/cpuinfo, if "flags" will not contain sse you have the same problem. solutions can be flashing the bios or using a newer (patched) kernel which will activate sse a boot-time. |
