When I upgraded to vlc the other day, I noticed that emerge --deplean caused libdvbpsi to be de-installed.
Then, when I ran updates this morning, vlc was being updated again, apparently for the sole reason that "dvbpsi" had been added to the USE flags for vlc and enabled as a default. Running emerge -uavDN world caused libdvbpsi to be installed.
So, although it's not documented in the package's changelog, something obviously did change. For some reason, the initial vlc-2.0 ebuild did not by default pull libdvbpsi as a dependency. This apparently changed when the USE flag was enabled by default.
As you can see, it's a dependency now:
Code: | # equery depends libdvbpsi
* These packages depend on libdvbpsi:
media-video/vlc-2.0.0 (dvbpsi ? >=media-libs/libdvbpsi-0.1.6) |
So, I thought perhaps your sudden problem with dvb upon upgrading to vlc-2.0 was likely related to this, and suggested you re-sync and update to pull in libdvbpsi. Since that's apparently not your problem, I apologize for an unnecessary inconvenience. _________________

I think dvbpsi is now activated by default. Sorry, I can't help you beyond pointing that out that potentially related change. Run revdep-rebuild if you haven't. _________________
