My DVD-RW drive is bust so, I'm looking for a replacement. Ideally, I'd like to get a USB external drive (so that I can attach it to my netbook too). Also, I'd like to be able to write dual layer discs too. Anyone know of a USB DVD-RW drive, that does DL, that works well with Linux and for which there is region free firmware? |

Thanks. I'll have a look for region free firmware for it. |

I also have an LG Slim, mine is model GSA-E50L. Has done it's job for a long time now. Only one usb port has always been enough, though the thing does have the possibility to use a second port for extra power.
No idea about regions, all I can say is that most of my discs are PAL, but I have played a few NTSC discs too, and nothing has ever complained. |
