Hello,
I was trying to get MineCraft up and running on my Gentoo machine and was wondering how I could go about it.
I was searching google for a while and couldn't find much of what I was exactly looking for.
I did find this on the Gentoo forums though:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-857083-start-0.html
It tells how to get the MineCraft shortcut up and I was wondering how to also get that to work.
Thank you in advance for any and all help

Alright,
After a few hours of searching for .jar file help I was able to find this worked after I installed the jre
Code: | java -jar <filename> |
(after, of course, cding into the folder)
Can anyone help with the process above that is mentioned on the link.
I have been following the wiki for a sold 4 hours and not getting much results.
Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place |

There are basicly two ways to get it to work:
1. install "icedtea"
2. download the minecraft.jar to your home
3. execute it via java -jar minecraft.jar
4. play
The other way via the java overlay from your link:
1. install "layman" (and add the layman make.conf to your /etc/make.conf)
2. add the java overlay via layman -a java-overlay
3. install "minecraft"
4. execute "minecraft" |
