I was running mandrake on my other HD when I tried to mount a gentoo partition that took forever to finish, I tried killing the process and after a while my machine just locked up, no mouse response and I could not ssh to shut it off normally, so I pressed the power switch.
After booting everything is normal until it starts X and it is just a black screen, when I change to a terminal it returns to normal but when I try to switch back to X it is the same black screen. I tried the GentooGames LiveCD and it goes black when it tries to load X also. Is my card damaged? is it just because it tries to load the NVIDIA drivers? I bought it like 6 months ago do you think it might still be covered by the card manufacturers warranty?
Thanks in Advanced |

Try using the nv or vesa driver just to see what happens. |
