since KDE 4.8.2 upgrade, my bookmarks folder in konqueror is empty...

home/.kde4/share/apps/konqueror shows the folder as 29 B in size...

any ideas on how to retrieve? I'm not even sure what to post as clues to how it was overwritten...

I find that bookmarks don't change too often now so
restoring from backup should get almost all of them
back into place.

Assuming you have a backup of ~/.kde ...

unfortunately I don't have a backup of KDE...

when upgrading or updating KDE, does it make an automatic backup?

has anyone else had their bookmarks written over on upgrade from 4.8.1 to 4.8.2 ? (I'm now on 4.8.3)
