Fresh gentoo install on p3 using pentium3 stage3 tarball. Everything goes fine during the install. Follow the directions to the letter for installing a boot loader (tried both) but upon first boot I get a screen full of GRUB GRUB GRUB, etc (same for lilo only with L 20 20 20 20,etc). Exact same install / instructions worked fine on 2 other boxes. If anyone has any ideas how I can correct this ... it would certainly be much appreciated  |

i know about this problem!
i use lilo, you would probably want to add lba32 to your lilo.conf
i am at school right now, so i cant give example of my lilo.conf, but i will add it when i come home, there is a slightly possibility that you need to map it due to what ide channels they are on (or something  ) |

| lba32 is in my lilo.conf ... however .... you could very well be right about the IDE chans. I had the HD (the one I installed to) on IDE2 (Secondary) master. Is there a way around this? Will moving the HD to IDE1 (primary) master and then installing clear up the problem you think? Btw, thanks for the input so far. |
