Hi, guys. I am trying to get the HDMI out of my laptop working, but it seems it doesn't want to.
It's a Dell laptop with an Intel HD3000 integrated graphics card, and a nvidia GT525m dedicated one. I have installed the optimus server with this wiki:
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/X.Org/nVidia_Optimus
(I suppose the problem could be related to this)
The optimus server works perfectly fine, so I can run any app with the nvidia driver, and the KDE desktop is running with the Intel driver. When I plug the HDMI cable to a TV, nothing happens. In system settings, the only video ouput that I can select is the screen of the laptop, and in xrandr, the output is always the same:

Code:

candamil@nomada ~ $ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS1 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm
   1920x1080      60.0*+
   1400x1050      60.0
   1280x1024      60.0
   1280x960       60.0
   1024x768       60.0
   800x600        60.3     56.2
   640x480        59.9
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

I think the problem is related to the optimus server, and maybe I need to run the whole system with the nvidia driver to get this thing working, but I have no idea about how to do it. At this moment, I am running xorg with no xorg.conf file, just the xorg.nvidia.conf that the wiki recommends, and if it is possible, I would like to solve it without creating a xorg.conf file (just if it is possible, of course). I tried to copy that file to xorg.conf, but it didn't work (when booting, the graphic session freezes, and the only thing I can do is go to any of the terms in F1-6. I tried to configure... anything (lol) with nvidia-settings, but as the system is not running with the nvidia driver, an error message appears (you are not using nvidia driver, blablabla, edit X configuration, blablabla, run nvidia-xconfig as root). I don't have that command (nvidia-xconfig) and I didn't find anything useful in emerge. The nvidia driver I have installed is the one from emerge, not the driver from nvidia website.

My laptop is a Dell XPS15 L502X, I am running a kernel 3.2.12-gentoo and my KDE version is 4.8.1. If you need any other information, please ask.

Do you have any idea about how to solve this problem?

Thank you.

I was trying to get the whole system working with the nvidia graphics card, but the result was always a black screen. After looking for a solution, I found out that in systems with optimus, the nvidia graphics card can't be used directly, so the main card should be the Intel one.

Any other idea to get this thing working?

Thank you.
