Hi all,
I was updating the system, by giving
'emerge --update --deep --with-bdeps=y --newuse world'
but it blocks when emerging cairo, giving this error:
/usr/lib32/libGL.so: could not read symbols: File in wrong format
I have searched in the web and I have understood that this error happens because of problems with multilib or some kind of broken dependencies with 32 libs (maybe i don't have understood anything )
I have also tried to put "amd64" in make.conf, then retrying but it was useless.
This is the output of : emerge --info '=x11-libs/cairo-1.12.14-r4'

|
|
Hi;
Gnome 3.8 want to install x11-libs/xpyb-1.3.1-r2 package but it failed to emerge with KeyError: 'int64_t'.
I modify the py_client.py file of xpyb-1.3.1-r2.tar.bz2 in /usr/portage/distfiles.
But when i emerge this package again emerge want to download it and don`t use existing package in distfiles.
Code: | #tar -jxvpf xpyb-1.3.1.tar.bz2 |
add this line in "cardinal_types" section:
Code: | 'INT64': 'i', 'int64_t': 'i', |
and save it and zip the xpyb-1.3.1 folder
Code: | tar -cvjf xpyb-1.3.1.tar.bz2 xpyb-1.3.1 |
Code: | #cp xpyb-1.3.1.tar.bz2 /usr/portage/distfiles |
Code: | #emerge -av x11-libs/xpyb |
Any idea for this...
Thank you. |

That will not work since the hash of the tarball will not match the hash mentioned in the Portage tree. A proper way would be to create a local overlay and copy the ebuild into it, with an additional call to epatch in src_prepare(). Or, if the package supports epatch_user, use that. Google/IRC will help you along the way. |

modify /var/tmp/portage/x11-libs/xpyb-1.3.1-r2/work/xpyb-1.3.1/src/py_client.py
cd /usr/portage/x11-libs/xpyb
ebuild xpyb-1.3.1-r2.ebuid compile
ebuild xpyb-1.3.1-r2.ebuid install
ebuild xpyb-1.3.1-r2.ebuid qmerge
this will install corrected working version and you can proceede on with instalation ( ebuild ... fetch is a problem, does the clean and untar of package)
try: "man ebuild" to grasp the emerge philosophy
cheers, SG |

Hi,
I had the same problem this morning.
My patch file: /etc/portage/patches/x11-libs/xpyb-1.3.1-r2/int64.patch

You might have to activate user_patch in /etc/portage/bashrc . |

Just wanted to emerge hplip, which installs xpyb as dependency and stumbled over this error.
The patch pointed out above doesn't work for me. _________________ "Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous."
