Hi, I was installing a stable gnome (version 2) and after realising I can't install gnome-shell on it I have started to follow this guide on an attempt to install gnome 3.
Now I am stuck on "emerge -DaNuv world" and I am given the following error, can someone point me of how to avoid this collision?
thanks! :) |

Well, the hurdles I see are x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers and net-misc/tigervnc.
r5 should solve tigervnc part, as for nvidia, it depends on your card. |

Hi toothpick. Thanks for sharing the link to that guide. I was searching for something on how to install Gnome 3 on Gentoo, but couldn't find anything relevant. _________________ Every time I compile Gentoo I feel like I should sacrifice a goat. |

I've just unmerged: tigervnc, xf86-input-evdev and nvidia-drivers and the collisions were removed.
Does it make sense for me to use gnome3 without nvidia-drivers? |

Not much, but you could still try - though have at least xf86-video-nouveau, it would be extremely hard to run with anything below that. |
