I'm have just the vesa framebuffer compiled into a 2.4.22 vanilla kernel on a Dell inspiron 5100 with a radeon 7500.

When I boot with video=vesa:mtrr, ywrap vga=0x318 it boots fine but when I do something like #dmesg | less I get half my screen full of white lines/garbage when I scroll. It goes away when it scrolls past then comes back if I scroll a bit more.

It fixes it by taking ywrap out but that makes it alot slower.

Anyone else have this or know of a fix for ywrap ? Whats the optimal framebuffer setup for a radeon 7500 ?

Thanks

No fix, but I can confirm the bug.. I got it also on vesafb with your settings. My VGA is a GF3Ti500, but that shouldn't have anything to do with it..

i get the same problem using a gf3ti200

i have traced it to using the mtrr and ywrap options as using neither results in flawless display, but the refresh is slower....

i just leave them in and deal with some garbled stuff every 3 or 4 screens of text...
