problem with my university data connection

hello everyone, I am using a university data connection at the moment, I can get it working properly as I found the DNS is fine, and :idea:

I can ftp ,telnet to some servers, however, while I rebuild my gentoo linux, :!:

the "mirrorseclect" command doesn't work at all ,It just hang there, further more, :!:

the "emerge sync" is in the same case. BTW, I use another gentoo box to connect to that connection can't emerge anything as well, :!:

and also hang there, I guess is the firewall problem... :?:

would someone help me or give me a cue, thanks in advance

Have you tried emerge-webrsync?
