emerge --update world broke.

I can't emerge --update world! It seems that the world option is the only one afflicted, buts its inhibiting me from keeping my gentoo properly updated. Here is the error:

I think this error started popping up after I ran an env-update, but I'm not sure. I am root while doing this, I've cleaned my rsync tree and reemerged portage more times than I can count. I have even tried rebuilding python.

Any help would be _greatly_ appreciated!!!

I had the same problem. What worked for me was just to 'emerge -u portage" and after it did that i was able to emerge everything.

Douring I emerge -u world, I got same problem.
That time just emerge rsync help me.
