Hi,

I am doing a new install on a second PC. I forgot to eselect profile set to default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop. I installed many packages from chroot in the time I could solve the boot problem with kernel 3.x and the /usr story that requires now an initramfs.

Now I can boot, but :
    1) the locale settings are not taken into account
    2) the windows frames are not displayed, so it is impossible to move or resize widows
    3) xfce4-panel does not start. I have to start it manually

Can this mess be explained by a wrong profile : default/linux/amd64/10.0 ?

Because I could not burn the 2012 CD, I performed the install from the 2010 CD. But I wonder then if some 2012 profiles exists ?

Now I set the good profile, shall I re-emerge world with -eND, or is there some lighter solution please ?

They are probably changed, but as you are download a recent stage and portage tree, it does not matter.

That's lighter than the 781 package rebuild of everything !

definitely.

Quote:

And you might want to fix that line... just add a = in front.
