Hallo zusammen,
ich bin gerade dabei, einen neuen Server aufzusetzen und stehe vor der Frage, welche mySQL-Version ich installieren soll. Auf meinem alten Server hatte ich ne 3er-Version, würde jetzt gerne mal die 4er antesten.
Ich hab aber noch auf einer alten Platte meine alte 3er-DB und würde diese Daten gerne irgendwie in die neue importieren. Es handelt sich dabei nicht um dumps, sondern um die mySQL-eigenen Dateien. Geht das überhaupt?

Wenn Du von der 3'er auf die 4'er Version updatest, werden die Datenbanken ja auch nicht geändert. Somit sollte das gehen. Ich habe schon von 3'er auf 4'er geupdated und hatte dabei keinerlei Probleme.

Das Problem ist, dass ich kein update mache, sondern eine Neuinstallation auf einem anderen Rechner. Ich werde dann nur die Platte vom alten Server zusätzlich reinhängen, um ein paar Dinge - wie die DB - rüber zu kopieren.

Ja, aber wie ich bereits sagte, macht das ja keinen Unterschied. Ob nun Update oder Neuinstallation.
