I have two hard drives in my box.
The first was intalled using an older version of the install instructions. It works fine except for ALSA audio.
I tried to install gentoo again on the second drive. This time I followed the new instructions.
The first drive has no problem with dhcpcd eth0 and the network is working fine.

the second drive using the new install instructions gives me the above error when I try to ping the router I have. (dlink firewall router)
this second drive can not emerge anything.

lsmod shows the
bcm4400
is loaded. When I try manual network config on eth0 it still wont work.
the dmesg shows eth0 is up and I don't get any errors.

The one thing I have noticed is that the second drive is a GRP install and it is rc6 where the first install was a stage 3 but interactive with the emerge sync and is rc7 kernel

any ideas?

what other diagnositcs can be run to figure out a network issue.
insmod bcm4400 works without error.
dmesg tells me eth0 is up

dhcpcd does not work neither does manual ifconfig statements.

it looks like it should be working, but it isnt

/etc/init.d/net.eth0 restart doesn't give any errors?
