[SOLVED] Can't connect to rsync or mirrors

Hi, I've just been going through upgrade hell since yesterday ... something I upgraded must be the causing my inability to connect to either rsync or any mirrors. As a test I connect my laptop to the same hub and it can connect fine to both rsync and all mirrors. The GENTOO_MIRRORS variable is exactly the same on both boxes, and they try to connect to the same services ... only that the newly "upgraded" gentoo box cannot connect to any of them, while the laptop on the same hub with the same configs can. I've searched the forums etc and can't find this particular case. I've rebooted 2x now to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

I just want to get my keyboard+mouse back after upgrade to xorg-server lost those. And only reason for that upgrade was because can't get a browser to compile nowadays because they all want to drag-in mesa (already have nvidia installed throughout) to support webgl. ugh. what are things coming to?

EDIT: iptables stop

There must have been some ipv6 business introduced by one of the few upgrades I performed.
