I need some help
After installing gentoo with genkernel I get the following message when i boot up :
Code: | eepro100.0: insmod eepro100 failed |
only repeated a lot of times and with a little more info.
It is not very nice. It has something to do with my network device i guess. I have enabled hotplug. Also, I have emerged the and added "e100" in /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4.
Please give some hints on what is wrong, as Gentoo isn't much without a working network card.

I've had the same problem. You should add -eepro100 to /etc/modules.autoload/kernel<version>. I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that the problem lies in the fact that there are 2 modules for the same network-card in the kernel. I written by intel, and one by open-source devvers.
Genkernel compiles both the drivers as modules and hotplug tries to load them both. You can't load both of them, so that's why you have to disable one of 'em.
<edit>
Oh, and if you want to know which modules are loaded, try typing lsmod. If the problem still exists trying my solution, then post the output of lsmod to...
