Hi
I tried installing cinnamon but it keeps dropping me back to lightdm which i am using with kde greeter.
Kde is working fine.
Sam thing happens if i use startx, it drops me back to the console with errors.
Here is the log of ~/.xsession-errors while trying to start up cinnamon.

Cinnamon depends heavily on Gnome for a big part of it's functionality. I started out by setting my profile <eselect profile> to desktop/gnome and then updating world. I'm not sure how that would work if you are already running KDE. After I updated world and it pulled in a large number of Gnome packages, I installed Cinnamon, which also pulled in a few more Gnome bits and pieces. At that point when I tried to start cinnamon from lxdm, and I experienced similar results as you had. Installing gnome-base/gnome-light got everything working for me.
There are probably less intrusive ways to install cinnamon, but I didn't spend a great deal of time looking for them. Maybe someone can enlighten us both.

Ok
Thanks for your hint i was able to get it started by installing nautilus.
Maybe cinnamon should have nautilus as a dependency.
Cinnamon settings doesn't open from the menu yet though.
