I've a Gentoo Linux at an external USB drive (32bit x86) - from where I do boot too.
The system has 8 GB RAM and a 10 GB swap space (for hibernation image too).
Sometimes s2disk fails, I found in the syslog messages : Code: | 2012-09-10T02:28:14.066+02:00 n22 kernel: PM: Need to copy 780571 pages
2012-09-10T02:28:14.066+02:00 n22 kernel: PM: Normal pages needed: 146639 + 1024, available pages: 80945
2012-09-10T02:28:14.066+02:00 n22 kernel: PM: Not enough free memory
2012-09-10T02:28:14.066+02:00 n22 kernel: PM: Error -12 creating hibernation image

But when I s2ram before, wake up, and then do an s2disk - it works.
Seems, that s2ram frees some page space before ? |
