Hello Forums,
i have a HP Pavillion dv6 with a BCM4313 wireless card, recently upgraded my Kernel to 3.4.9 and was missing wireless network since.
I have now dug a bit into the problem and the driver was just diasbled because it relies on Broadcom BCMA support, which was not available in the older version.
I have configured my Kernel according to the brcmsmac manual: http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/brcm80211
and emerged linux-firmware for the firmware. (I installed the blobs manually on my former kernel).
The driver was properly installed and shown as loaded by lsmod, but whenever any application tries to use it (NetworkManager or wpa_supplicant, dhcpcd even), the whole system freezes.
No error is shown, or logged, just an immediate freeze.
Anyone got any idea about a fix? I have read about crashes with BCM4313 and brcmsmac on other distros, but they were always related to
conflicts with other modules that I have not even installed.
