got this recently, the case was rough, but the motherboard is clean and it is working.... I think.
boots to firmware, tried gentoo install, goes along fine until:
"Attempting to mount media:- /dev/sr0"
and sits.
I know nothing of linux, thought having this machine would be a good place to start (also got a Sun SPARCstation 5 in unknown condition, I may try that , but need a monitor adaptor first) |

Multia is such an old slow machine, I can't imagine it being good for much. If you want an alpha to play with, find an xp900 or an xp1000. I just bought a spare xp1000 on craig's list for 100 bucks. the xp1000 is very well supported, and it's modern enough to be useful, and compile things in a reasonable time. _________________ Compaq XP1000 Alpha EV67 667Mhz w/ 2GB ECC
