Okay. I'm still kind of new to this...

But, I have a new box up running a newly emerged KDE 3.1.4.

In WinVNC I know you can just set up the VNC Server as a system service and it will just always be there.

How do I set that up in linux?

Always on, always starts on boot.

KDE 3.1..x includes a new VNC-compatible component that does exactly this. The server is called krfb, and the client is krdc. You can configure the server through Control Center to always listen on the network, allow remote users to take over the session, etc. Or, you can manually invite people to connect with one-time passwords. Very nice.

Thanks for the tip. I tried turning it on, but it didn't automatically start. I'll be trying it after I reboot. I'm currently in the middle of building openoffice. When that is done I'll restart and see if it comes up correctly.

Hi,

You could try adding a line to your /etc/conf.d/local.start file. That way VNC would start whenever you booted.
