|
|
I finally managed to get USB working with my Sony Clie NX80V so that I could sync via jpilot and mount the memory stick - all of which made me very happy.
The problem is that the modules involved cause two problems:
1) unloading then causes the shell to hang - this is a real problem during system shutdown
2) Things only work for a time after a starting up - then I can no longer sync or mount the memory stick unless I reboot - worse than working with windows!
The modules I am using are:
usb-uhci
usbserial
visor
sd_mod
usb-storage
I think it's one of the first three that are causing the problems as I can load and unload the latter two without serious problems.
I do also have a USB keyboard - the only other USB device on my system. This uses the keybdev module.
Please help! I am prepared to install a new kernel from the vanilla sources (currently using gs-sources 2.4.22) although I will probably add the low latency and pre-empt patches. I'd rather not though - it seems like there should be a way to get things working without any serious trouble. _________________ Old School is the way forward! |

OK - well does anyone at least know where I can get the pre-empt and low latency patches?
Edit: I'm currently using the vanilla kernel and, so far, it's much better (although sd_mod no longer seems to be making /dev/sda1 whihc means I don't know how to mount the memory stick)
I think I spotted something though. When I performed a sync with jpilot, it completed with the word "finished" in the jpilot output. I'm not certain I saw this before - so I think the sync was not completing, hence the inability to do any subsequent sync/connection...
I have no idea why this was the case though...
Any thoughts would be helpful (especially on the menory stick thing...)
Edit#2: For some reason, attempting to mount the memory stick on /dev/sda (which doesn't work) causes sda1 to be created - which is fine. Not a particularly elegant solution - but it seems to work for now... _________________ Old School is the way forward! |
